Licensed in 23 states · No cost to youLooking for a Medicare agent near you?
You can talk to a licensed independent Medicare agent today, at no cost to you. We will compare the plans we offer against your own medications and your own doctors, explain the trade-offs in plain English, and tell you honestly if your current plan is already the right one.
Almost everybody who searches for a Medicare agent near them is really asking three questions at once: is this going to cost me anything, is this person actually allowed to advise me, and will they show me more than one option? Those are good questions, and they have short answers — nothing, check the license, and that depends entirely on who you call. Here they are properly, along with the part of your search that matters less than you would think.
- An agent costs you nothing. Insurers pay agents at a rate Medicare sets. The same plan costs the same whether you use an agent or not.
- "Near me" matters less than "licensed where I live." Enrollment happens by phone and video. The license and the plan appointments are what actually govern who may help you.
- Independent beats captive for comparison, because a captive agent can only show you one company's plans.
- No agent represents every plan. Any honest one tells you so in writing — ours is at the bottom of this page.
- We are licensed in 23 states, based in Tacoma, Washington, and we serve clients everywhere else remotely.
What does a Medicare agent cost?
Nothing. Not a fee, not a consultation charge, not a markup on your premium. Licensed Medicare agents are paid by the insurance company when someone enrolls, and the amount is capped by Medicare — which means an identical plan carries an identical price whether you enroll through an agent, on Medicare.gov, or by calling the insurer yourself. Using an agent does not make your coverage more expensive.
Two consequences worth knowing. First, if anyone ever asks you to pay them to help you enroll in Medicare, that is a reason to hang up. Second, because agents are paid per enrollment, an agent's incentive is to move you — which is exactly why you should ask, out loud, whether staying on your current plan is the better answer. A good agent will say so when it is.
Does your agent actually need to be nearby?
"Near me" is how people search, and it is worth being straight about what it buys you. Medicare enrollment is done over the phone, by video, or online. It has been for years, and the plan you end up in is identical either way. What genuinely governs whether someone may advise you is not distance — it is whether they hold a license in your state and are appointed with the plans sold in your county.
So the useful version of the question is: is this agent licensed where I live, and can I reach a real person in March when a claim gets denied? Those two decide the quality of the help. A ZIP code does not.
Independent agent, captive agent, or the plan itself
There are three kinds of person who will happily help you pick a Medicare plan, and the difference between them is simply how many options can reach the table.
- The insurer's own representative. Employed by one company, able to sell that company's plans. Useful if you already know which company you want.
- A captive agent. Contracted to one company. Same limitation, less obvious from the outside.
- An independent agent or broker. Appointed with several companies, so plans can be compared side by side before a recommendation exists.
What nobody can honestly claim is to represent every plan that exists. That is why every licensed Medicare agent is required to tell you which companies they do represent — ours is stated in the compliance notice at the foot of this page, and you should expect the same from anybody else.
Who is the best Medicare agent for you?
Not a question anybody can answer about themselves, so here is the criteria list instead. Ask these of us, and ask them of anyone else you call.
- Which companies are you appointed with? A specific list, not "all the major ones."
- Will you show me a plan you earn less on, if it fits me better?
- How will you check my exact medications? By name and dose, against each plan's drug list and tier — not a general reassurance.
- How will you confirm my doctors? Verified with the practice, not only with last year's plan directory.
- What is my out-of-pocket maximum on each plan you are showing me?
- Who do I call in March when something is denied — you, or a call center?
- Will you tell me to stay put if my current plan is already the right one?
An agent who is comfortable with all seven is doing the job. An agent who deflects on the last two is selling something. Our own answers, in order: we will tell you the list; yes; by name and dose; with the practice; we will show you the number; you call us; and yes — we say "stay where you are" regularly, because it is often true.
What working with us actually looks like
iCoach Solutions is a general agency with licensed agents across 23 states, including Spanish-speaking agents — you can meet the team before you call anyone. A first conversation is usually twenty to thirty minutes: your medications, your doctors, your budget, and what has gone wrong with coverage before. Then we compare what is available where you live and walk you through the trade-offs.
If you are new to all of this, our enrollment timeline tool will tell you which window you are in before you even speak to us. If you are already enrolled and something changed, start with your Annual Notice of Change letter — and if you are inside the October 15 to December 7 window, our guide to switching or changing a Medicare plan covers what you are allowed to do.

Common questions
How much does a Medicare agent cost?
Nothing to you. Licensed Medicare agents are paid by the insurance company when someone enrolls, at a rate Medicare sets, and that rate is the same whether you enroll through an agent, on Medicare.gov, or by calling the plan directly. Your premium does not go up because you used an agent, and there is no fee, consulting charge or markup. If anyone asks you to pay them for Medicare enrollment help, that is your signal to stop.
Does a Medicare agent have to be local to me?
They have to be licensed in your state and appointed with the plans available in your county. They do not have to live near you. Medicare enrollment is done by phone, video or online, and it has been for years. What actually matters is whether the agent can legally advise you where you live, whether they can compare more than one company's plans, and whether you can reach a real person when something goes wrong in February.
What is the difference between an independent Medicare agent and a captive one?
A captive agent represents one insurance company and can only offer you that company's plans. An independent agent or broker is appointed with several companies and can compare across them. Neither one represents every plan that exists — no agent does, which is why every licensed agent has to tell you so in writing. The practical difference is how many options get onto the table before a recommendation is made.
What states do you serve?
iCoach Solutions is a general agency with licensed agents across 23 states, and Spanish-speaking agents on the team. Our home base is Tacoma, Washington, and clients everywhere else are served remotely by phone and video. If you tell us where you live, we will tell you straight away whether we can help you there or whether you would be better served elsewhere.
What should I ask a Medicare agent before I let them help me?
Ask which companies they are appointed with, whether they will show you plans they earn less on, how they will check your specific medications against each plan's drug list, whether they verify your doctors with the practice rather than just the plan directory, who you call in March when a claim is denied, and whether they will tell you to stay on your current plan if that is the better answer. An agent who cannot answer those comfortably is telling you something.
